hi there, i’m a (ruby) programmer from berlin and am running a software company with some friends. two of us will be coming to oslo in the end of july and we wanted to see if we could meet with “the locals”, so i tried to get into the oslo ruby user group. unfortunately i never got the account confirmation email so i’m now writing to you. we will be staying in oslo for a week. first of it would be cool if there was a meeting of the user group in that time that we could attend (and maybe talk about our projects or something). secondly we would like to find a company whose office we could use for that week and maybe even work with them if that fits in somehow. maybe you ca repost this to the group. thanks and best regards,

do you have regular meetings or is this group mostly an online group? i don’t speak any norwegian so it’s a bit hard for me to read through the pages… :D
any hints on an office for that week? are there coworking spaces in oslo? we can of course pay for that. (or pay by programming :) )

There is a way to change your language – if you click “Profil” in the top menu, select “Innstillinger” you should be taken to a page where you can select a different language. Unless, of course, you prefer Norwegian :-)
We do meet IRL about once every month.
Our company has an office where you can hang out, I’m sure there are other places too!

Why don’t we meet on Sunday evening for a few beers? It seems our German friends will arrive on Saturday, which gives a good excuse for a few Sunday-beers…?
sounds like an excellent idea. when and where? (and maybe some directions how to find the place)
In lack of imagination there’s always the pub next to the office, but if the weather is nice we should probably find somewhere with a nicer view. Where are you guys staying? maybe we should just pick you up somewhere on the way?

Hollendergaten is in Grønland/Gamlebyen (Old Town) i think…
I suggest Solsiden (Vippetangen)… in case of good weather, Süd Øst (Grünerløkka) in case of medium weather, and Microbryggeriet (Majorstua) in case of bad weather!
Another good-weather (and cheaper) spot is the old Bastø-ferry at Aker Brygge (the one innermost and closest to Vippetangen). It’s a pretty unknown gem!
How about if we just meet outside the central station at six?
